SIMV-V — Synchronized IMV — Volume
Synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation, volume-targeted. Mandatory breaths deliver a set tidal volume synchronized to effort; spontaneous breaths in between receive pressure support.

Physiological basis
SIMV-V shares the same synchronization algorithm as SIMV-P, dividing the EPAP duration into a spontaneous window (first 40%) and a mandatory window (final 60%).
The difference is that mandatory breaths target a set tidal volume rather than a set pressure, assuring minute ventilation while still letting the patient breathe — and be pressure-supported — in between. If no effort occurs, the device delivers volume-targeted mandatory breaths at the set rate.
